www.unlockit.co.nz should have a thethering and MMS Enabling now option for V3.

It won't actually update the MMS Settings for your Carrier as of yet but it should enable them.

Let me know if it works/doesn't work..

Thanks

Ok first off i would like to thank unlockit.co.nz for making a ballin sick ass titties webpage and one of the ONLY pages on the net that makes any sense to help solve the mms and tethering issues caused by our lovely friends at Apple and our service providers.

I do however have some issues that need some clarification.

I tried installing your app from my iphone to no avail.  It still would not send MMS,
The bar DID move to yes for tethering and MMS
I believe this is because i DO NOT have a data plan and my data is blocked.   I have read elsewhere that you need data allowed to send mms.  This may be true regardless of how stupid it is.  Why would you need a data plan all of a sudden to send mms when you can send mms from any other phone without a data plan?  gotta love the iphone and its so called "perks"

I am on the canadian carrier fido.  I have called them numerous times only to end up educating them on this issue.

So here is where i stand.  (and maybe you)

No Data plan - No mms (without jailbreak) as told by a fido rep. Fido of course says to not jailbreak.

I called fido again and it seems they can turn on data but of course if i use the data outside of wifi i will be charged 5¢ per kb.
for clarification is the APN block from this program to stop this from happening?

I noticed when i install this program it assigns the fido address internet.fido.ca (or whatever your carrier setting are)

The settings for fido i found are (dont know which ones are important)

General WAP Settings

APN : w a p . f i d o . c a
IP Address: 205.151.011.011
WAP Home Page: h t t p : / / w a p . f i d o . c a
User Name: fido
Password: fido

General Internet
Settings

APN : internet.fido.ca
User Name: fido
Password: fido
Dial-up Access: *99# (for Sony Ericsson handsets, use *99***CID#)

Tethering for Smartphones

APN: ISP.fido.apn

Domain Name System (DNS)

Primary: 204.92.15.211
Secondary: 204.92.15.212

General MMS Settings

APN: mms.fido.ca
IP address: 205.151.011.013
Messaging server (URL): h t t p : / / m m s . f i d o . c a

SMS Centre Number
+1 514 993-1123. (in my area)

are the APN settings for more than MMS?

Now if i am using the internet.fido.ca settings will this incur charges to the data plan because its internet.fido.ca?  Or will fido somehow recognize its an mms and only charge mms fees. should i use the mms.fido.ca settings? and if so how do i enter the IP information etc...
I have a mms and text plan from my old phone which i have kept for my iphone. I DID NOT update/upgrade to an iphone plan.

Im sorry if this is confusing but all the help i can get would be greatly appreciated and hopefully can help others.

Summary:

No data enabled by carrier = no MMS
Will i incur charges OTHER than mms charges for use once this program is installed with data enabled.  (fido can not tell me until my bill is sent, which seems retarded)
I have also read you need an OLD mms package or plan for it to work properly.

"it wont actually update the MMS settings for your carrier as of yet but it should enable them" - what does that mean?

Once again, kudos to you for this webpage.

+1 to the awesome webpage and the ease of which tethering is being implemented, but i must also agree that MMS is non-existant. i have an Iphone 3GS with an unlimited data/text plan through AT&T USA and i do not see the option to enable MMS in the settings/general/network.

also there is discussion going around about a "Profile" tab that can be found in settings/general but i have yet to see it at all; am i missing something, do i have to download an app?

---edit---

you have to modify your carrier.plist file to have the availabity to access your apn settings, after a bit of searching ibwas able to find a post on it. Google "allowedgeedit" and it should come up with the process. I have yet to try the mms unlocker now but I will update as soon as I get around to it
