I just bought an AT&T GoPhone Prepaid SIM with the 100MB medianet data plan for 30 days.

I installed a custom APN from www.unlockit.co.nz/#_Custom

I picked AT&T from the list, installed the profile.

I can see that tethering and MMS are there but 3G data isn't working - only Edge.

It's not a great problem but it would be nice to get it working on my iPhone 3G.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Do you have the 3G turned on in the settings? also are you sure the area you are in actually supports 3G? rather than edge/GPRS?

Thanks

If I turn on 3G there is no data connection (it just complains that the server has stopped responding if I go to www.google.com - it is *not* Could Not Activate Cellular Data Network: You Are Not Subscribed to a Cellular Data Service ).

I have a 3GS that works fine in the same location with 3G (on contract, not on GoPhone).

I was wondering if there were different APN settings for 3G (the GPRS in the user-name made me suspicious).

The app is great btw, I'm just a little scared to install on my 3GS due to the problem above.

Thanks

Its not an app really.. All it does is set some settings via a Configuration Profile which Apple supplies information on how to do it. The same thing can be done via apples software but my page is easier to do. Easily removed via built in settings, general, profiles and it will go back to its normal. Its not jailbraking or hacking or anything the iPhone.

It's now about 3 months since AT&T apparently started blocking data on iPhone GoPhone plans.  Are there any workarounds?  Here's my situation:

I have a 3G iPhone bought from AT&T on a contract that I canceled after one month (so paid the cancellation fee, but kept the handset).  It's jailbroken and unlocked on OS 3.0, and I use it without incident on a non-iPhone contract on the O2 network in the UK (where I live).  I've had an AT&T wireless number for about 10 years, originally in a TDMA contract, but was able to gett AT&T to agree to port it to a GoPhone PAYG plan a few years ago when they decommisioned their TDMA network and switched to GSM.  For years I've just loaded $100 per 12 months to keep my account active, and then used it when I was in the States.  Since I got the iPhone in late 2008, I was able to add the $19.99 30-day 100 MB data bolt-on to use when I was in the States for data, which is great because it's more than enough for a 1-week vacation.  The last time I was in the US was April 2009 and the 100 MB bolt-on worked great (I was also on OS 2.2).  When I arrived for my latest trip this weekend (Sep-09), I had already added the 100 MB data bolt-on before I left London, but was frustrated when I landed in Phoenix and had no data when I put the AT&T SIM in the iPhone ("could not activate cellular data network", or whatever).  I found it even weirder that I could not access the APN settings in Settings -> General -> Network (maybe an AT&T SIM blocks that because I never tried to access it previously with that SIM in the phone, but when my O2 SIM is in the phone I can definitely manually adjust the APN, MMS and Visual Voicemail settings).

Anyway, I found this site, installed the little config file, and voila, data worked fine in 3G...for about 24 hours.  Today, though, I had either no coverage or maybe very spotty coverage, but completely unreliable, especially with full bars.  Then, after reading this forum, I experimented by turing off the 3G radio, and amazingly I've got data again, albeit in Edge (not a huge problem, and obviously a big plus if I want to conserve my battery).  It's only been about three hours since I did this and I still have data, but I'm wondering if it is possible to still use data on a PAYG AT&T GoPhone plan, albeit just not 3G?

Does anyone else have experience getting data (consistently) on an iPhone 3G with a GoPhone PAYG (not Pick Your Plan) data bundle?

Thanks

I tried the fakeapn also, and did the speed test on it. After the speed test, I think At&t caught me using the data plan, and when I looked up the the account history they said I've used GPRS and deducted my $50 I just put in today... I called and complained, and the only thing they did was put back $20 into my account. Also they removed the DATA off my account! Can you help me out admin plz!
