Hi

First, I must thank the Unlockit guys for doing a great job. I started using it about 6 months back to change the APN when traveling. I have a factory unlocked iPhone 3GS purchased in HK.

I could change the setting initially when I started and see the APN. With this, I could successfully use the 3G AT&T network in the US when I travelled there, with a prepaid card.

But for the last two months, every time I try to change the APN it gives me an error message. Initially this was through Safari, now even with the email message. When I click install, it says "Profile failed to Install - The UUID for the profile "APN Carrier Settings" is not unique."

When I click on the Cellular Data network, it just returns to the home screen. Is this a drawback of using the unlockit? I am traveling in SA on Vodacom right now and my friends' phones are working fine. Mine is working on the internet but I am not able to use it for tethering the way others are able to.

Help.

Im having the same problem (as a lot of others). No one seems to have a fix. Looks like a bug with OS 4.

I was able to install the modified Tmobile APN, but can't switch it back to AT&T. I get the same error.

Other APN profile work (let me install atleast) but the data service obviously doesn't (e.g. I selected Vodafone and it allowed me to install the mobileconfig without the APN error)

Same EXACT error here when trying to change APN from Vodafone Spain to MoviStar Spain.

I read somewhere to try and e-mail the profile and install from there but same error, no joy Sad
I sent Craig a message via the contact form on the site on August 9th but have not heard anything.
Anyone know if there are plans to fix this. I see some of you wrote it is a bug with iOS4 but the bug would actually be with the unlock it system.
Apple will certainly not be fixing it, unlockit really needs to fix it.

I was really looking forward to being able to change the APN settings on my iPhone 4 since the iPhone 4s here in Spain do not have the APN settings available in the "system preferences --> general --> network" due to the fact that the carriers wanted it that way from Apple so even if we unlock the phone we can only use the data services with the original carrier. They also have us by the shorthairs if we travel abroad since while we can get a local SIM for voice, if we want to use any data reliant service on the iPhone 4 then we can only do so with the original carrier SIM and at extortion data roaming rates.

Sly dogs!!!

hope unlockit is even slyer Smiley))

Am very willing to donate some cashola via PayPal if it works on the iPhone 4 but it does not.

Saludos,

I got the same error and I may have a solution for you guys... I have an iPhone 3G but it might just work with any iPhone... Go to Settings --> General --> Profiles --> APN Carrier Settings ... and Remove. Then open Safari to this URL : http://www.unlockit.co.nz/#_Custom and install a new APN settings according to your Country and Carrier. Do this if you don't have access to the APN settings screen like me. If you have access to it, you may be able to set it manually. Let me know if it worked!

hi.

sorry, i forgot to post here and i was reminded by greengaroo to come back and post.

out of the blue, i tried a factory reset of the network settings and then went back to the unlockit site and tried again, worked fine Smiley

so, thumbs up for the unlockit effort but thumbs down for the "customer" service here on the site and via e-mail. nobody from unlockit ever posted here to provide a solution and i also sent a contact form from this site and e-mailed craig personally and no responses.

if i had gotten a response i would have donated some €€€ via paypal but not now, poor support here.

saludos,
jez...
