Updated: FakeAPN on Vodafone New Zealand

Posted Posted in Uncategorized

Update: If you want to disable data on Vodafone in NZ then go to custom APN and choose NZ – B&W. Strange but true. The way it works is B&W are a MNVO (Virtual Carrier) with Vodafone and if you try and use B&W’s APN it will not allow you to (as you are not a B&W customer).

—————-

Vodafone New Zealand have just made it in the last couple of days so any APN will work for data now which breaks the functionality of the FakeAPN Settings. This means that any APN you put into your iPhone (or any phone) it will allow data. I know no other countries which they do this (none reported) so New Zealand is quite unique. At the moment we have a solution for this (without jailbreaking or alike your iPhone) and we will releasing it soon.

So be aware if you are trusting this FakeAPN (In New Zealand) to block data over the cell phone network it might nort work.

How to enable 3G features to a 2G (well kind of) (or turn it into an iPod)

Posted Posted in Uncategorized

People have found out quite a number of features which are on the 3G iPhone which are not enabled on the 2G version of the iPhone. Well some features are 1/2 enabled and some actually work.

– Numeric Battery Meter (works 100%)
– Tethering (you get the option but does not work)
– MMS (you get the options but does not work)
– Getting the Enable 3G Toggle Switch (well it goes back to off when you turn it on of course)
– Video Recording (well disables the camera completely but you get the options)

Oh and you can turn your iPhone into an iPod 🙂 (Yes its an iPhone)

Enable Tethering and MMS on the iPhone 3G V3.0 Software

Posted Posted in Uncategorized

unlockit.co.nz now has the new option of enabling MMS and tethering + MMS on your iPhone 3G with a configuration file. At the moment it does not set the MMS servers for people’s carriers so you will have to add these by hand. If you have the settings for various providers please contact me.

A few other websites have “popped  up” who have tried to copy my website/idea but this is the original one trusted by 100000+ users in the last few months. We sign our profiles these days so you can trust that the config files won’t set anything nasty with them (which you can actually do) so be warned using other random mobileconfig files from around the internet.

V3.0 GM .mobileconfig files TESTING

Posted Posted in Uncategorized

Apple haven’t released yet any documentation on the format of .mobileconfig files yet for V3.0 to enable/change other options such as MMS/Tethering etc settings.
If anyone has any documentation they can share/inside knowledge please let me know 🙂

As I don’t have an iPhone 3G (only 2G) these settings are impossible for me yet to test so I have to do it via trial and error 🙁

Download these file(s) for testing and install on your iPhone (just download via your iPhone and they will install) and please let me know the results (only if you have GM installed and an iPhone 3G. Screenshots emailed to admin@unlockit.co.nz would be great of your Settings… General.. Network. etc….. You can uninstall from General.. Settings.. Profile after you have finished with them.
