Kogan Mobile – Enabling iMessage/Facetime

December 21st, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

I have been emailed this from a Kogan Mobile User on how to enable iMessage/Facetime. This is needed (at the moment) as the default SMSC will not allow the iMessage activation message to go thru on the iPhone.

1. Disable iMessage under Settings/Messages
2. Dial *#5005*7672# and make a note of what the SMSC is set to at the moment
3. Dial **5005*7672*+61418706700# to set Telstra’s SMSC
4. Dial *#5005*7672# to make sure it changed.
5. Enable iMessage under Settings/Messages
6. Dial **5005*7672*thenumberyouwrotedowninstep2# (or you won’t be able to send)
6. Reboot phone (If needed)

This worked a treat with my new Kogan Sim card on my iPhone 4. Just remember to change it back to +61418706275 otherwise you won’t be able to send SMS (only receive)!

I had the same problem. What you need to do is add the $15 international add on. This allows imessage to verify your address with its servers in the USA. Leave the add on for a month and turn it off when ur done.

The iMessage problem has been fixed so there is no need to change the SMSMC anymore.

Will these codes work on an iphone 3? My daughter has my old iphone3 and I bought her a Kogan Mobile sim and she cannot receive or send MMS (She could previously with her Telstra SIM) Will the dial codes work on her iphone?

Ensure your number in settings is set to +61 and not 0, this worked for me.
